The Tributes From Districts 6, 7 8 Have Been Cast In The Hunger Games

It’s been a few days since we’ve had a casting update from The Hunger Games and since that time, the new tributes have been piling up. Today we learn that the unnamed tributes from Districts 6, 7 and 8 have been cast with relative newcomers. The official Facebook profile of The Hunger Games film has [...]

Yesterday we saw a batch of really cute photos of Natalie Portman‘s babydaddy-to-be Benjamin Millepied dancing his buns off on the streets of NYC, NY. It turns out that Ben was actually filming a commercial for Yves St. Laurent. Today, we get to see a few more photos from the set of the YSL commercial shoot and as you can see from the photos below, Benjamin really got into the swing of things this time around.

Aww … I bet this commercial is going to turn out really well … but, I have to say, I’m kinda bummed that this turned out to be a commercial shoot and not an impromptu and random dance session. I really loved the idea that Benjamin was just walking along and then BAM! he decided to bust out some serious dance moves right there on the streets of NYC. Ah well … it’s still fun seeing him in action. Very soon, tho, Benjamin will really have cause to dance and celebrate because he’s about to become a father … and that alone is reason enough to dance in the streets ;D

Home Karaoke Some Technical Terms You Should Get To Know

James Taylor was born 12 March 1948 in Boston, Massachusetts, the second of five children, to a father who practiced medicine and a mother who trained as an opera singer. Taylor was to become one of the biggest stars to emerge from the late 60s / early 70s folk-rock phenomenon, a more soulful practitioner than such earthier, troubadour predecessors as Woody Guthrie or Bob Dylan.

The Beatles Album Covers Their Three Most Iconic

Released in 1987, the album 'James Taylor Classic Songs' has been an entry point for many people discovering James' music for the first time. It is a wonderful collection of his material, up to that point in his career, and its place in my CD library is still near the top amongst a select few that I categorise as 'most listened to'.

Detroit Tigers Manager Sparky Anderson Passes Away At 76

Sad news to pass along to baseball fans today … the iconic Detroit Tigers manager George Lee Sparky Anderson passed away today in his home in Thousand Oaks, CA at the age of 76. Last night I met up with my dear friend Adriana for a dinner and catch-up session at a restaurant called Reservoir in Silver Lake, CA:

Unfortch, I was so wrapped up in our conversation that I failed to snap a pic of us hanging out together … but, I think this adorable pic of Adriana rockin’ her Wonder Woman Underoos back in the say will suffice. Big, exciting things are happening for AY these days and I’m so happy to hear that she is doing well. I wish we got to hang out more often but I’m very happy with the time we do get.

Tonight the Turtle Party will be gettin’ together for a Zombie movie night … should be fun. Temps are still in the record-breaking high 90s today. Zoiks! Happy Thursday!!

My Own James Taylor Music Appreciation Society

I've been collecting books about The Beatles since my early teens, and I'm now nearing the age of 50, although I admit my trawl of Beatle-related volumes has diminished in the last ten years or so. However, I find it almost therapeutic to revisit some of those Beatles books I grew up poring over and I'd like to recommend five from my collection that I can safely class as being amongst the favourites of all the Beatles books I own.

Snowshoeing The other Winter Sport

Life expectancy has increased during the recent years and it is therefore important that we plan our retirement well. It is really important that you plan your retirement well if you want to sustain your current standard of living all the way to your old age. It does not matter whether you work as customer relation management or operate your own business it is important that you have a good retirement plan. If you are one of the many internet entrepreneurs out there it is important that you have a proper pension plan to guarantee some income during your retirement. For example if you make money off Adsense in niches such as sejour linguistique or developpement personnel you may find it useful to invest part of your revenue in order to ensure some income during your old age. I have attached an article on this topic to help you get started quickly on this topic. We all understand that snowboarding and skiing have been the spotlight sports with the winter season, but have you actually been snowshoeing? If not, then it's time you hit the mountain trails with snowshoes in your feet. Here are some suggestions to create your initial encounter go smoothly...one. Choose snowshoes which are light-weight. This really is possibly one of the most essential element in selecting snowshoes. These bad boys can variety from tremendous light, not much more than a pound a piece, to weighing several pounds for each and every shoe. Picture lugging around a brick around the bottom of you foot to get a few of miles - NOT Fun! Always pick the lightest snowshoe that appears to match easily.two. Get snowshoes which are rated for your weight. There's nothing even worse than trekking out in to the fresh new, white powder and sinking as much as your thigh, due to the fact you did not get snowshoes that fit you effectively. They have shoes that go from excess weight ratings of as small as thirty lbs, as much as more than 300 kilos. With all that variation, you're positive to find the right dimensions and match for you personally.three. While this really is a sport your entire family can do (even a 3 12 months aged can throw on the tiny pair of snowshoes and head out for a hike), you undoubtedly do not need to be snowshoeing tough hills along with your child. So, begin off with suitable rated trails and hikes. Function your way as much as more advanced trails as your abilities and ease and comfort degree boost.4. Make sure you provide lots of h2o and snack meals while you snowshoe. Pine needles, while delivering excellent protein and other all-natural goodness, almost certainly will not taste very good to you or your children as a snack. Some granola bars, a wholesome path mix, and a big bottle of water should suffice for a short journey. Don't forget to remain hydrated, specifically if conditions are nice and sunny.five. Don't undervalue the power of one's body to stay warm, even though you will be snowshoeing. When you are working out in the snow, if it is not raining or actually snowing, your body temperature is going to be skyrocketing.Essentially the most crucial point is to put on LAYERS of clothes which you can take off and put back on as you need them. A light-weight, water-proof shell is very crucial. Don't wear only a hefty, cold climate coat, unless you know it's absolutely freezing. Why? You may sweat buckets and you'll encounter gentle warmth exhaustion signs and symptoms speedily. In mildly cold snow conditions, your physique will stay scorching while you physical exercise.Water-resistant boots should be your next clothes priority. Your feet will get moist with all of the snow bouncing about throughout snowshoeing. In case you can, wear water-resistant boots.6. Finally, relaxation in case you require to. Stop as regularly as needed to make sure your physique has time to regenerate. Do not go thus far which you cannot flip around and allow it to be back again for your beginning level. Always be aware of matching your power and skills for the climate circumstances and terrain, which means you keep oneself as well as your household secure.Be sure to commence your snowshoeing adventures on the right track and take pleasure in the expertise.

Celebrity Couple of The Week: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

It’s a new weekly feature here on Right Celebrity, the Celebrity Couple of the Week, where we spotlight a twosome in the news. Hands down the honor should go to none other than the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate. Their Royal Wedding was simply amazing, wasn’t it? I just cannot stop talking about it. We have a full gallery of pictures and a timeline in videos leading up to the wedding right here! It’s hard to believe that 30 years ago I woke up early as a youngster to catch a glimpse of Princess Diana marry her Prince. Little did I know that I would do the same in 1997 to watch her funeral. Fast forward almost 14 years later, and I watch in amazement as her eldest son, Prince William, marries the love of his love, Kate Middleton. It was the wedding of the century, no doubt, and surely Princess Diana was looking down at her son beaming with pride. He, along with his brother, are truly her sons. It was evident when on the eve before his nuptials, he took a stroll down the Mall and greeted fans. He shook their hands, posed for pictures [...]

Did Kate Middleton Inadvertently Give A Sneak Peek Of Her Wedding Vows?

We are just about 1 day away from the Royal Wedding of Prince William of Wales and his fiancée Kate Middleton and earlier today, the couple ran thru the final wedding rehearsal before the big day. When next the couple meets inside Westminster Abbey, they will be joined in holy matrimony. Before the rehearsal took [...]

Last night, David and I were graciously invited for a dinner date at Ollie and Caleb’s home downtown so we JUMPED at the chance to hang out at their place. Having tasted Ollie’s cooking before, I knew that we would be in for a real treat. The four of us haven’t hung out in a while so we were anxious to just hang out and chill together so that we could play records and catch up on what’s been going on in our lives. While we were all relaxing, David struck up a new love affair with a member of Ollie and Caleb’s family … and it was love at first sight!

David and Daphne (Ollie & Caleb’s pooch) have been good friends for a while but they really hit it off together last night. This photo of the two of them looking out the window together is just the perfect example of their special friendship … aren’t they just the cutest?

Anyways, as I said … Ollie cooked an amazing meal and we all had a blast! Tonight, David and I are planning to hang out with Emma and Josh who we also haven’t seen in a while so … it’s gonna be another couple’s date night tonight! It’s Hump Day, y’all … I hope YOURS is a great one :D

The Royal Wedding Order Of Service Has Been Revealed

The end is nigh. The end is SO nigh that you can practically taste it. We are mere months away from the release of the final, FINAL Harry Potter film and as each day draws nearer, a part of me withers up and dies. Warner Bros. released a new trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and when I say it is an epic trailer, I’m not trying to sound over dramatic and hyperbolic. This is an EPIC look at the final showdown between Harry Potter (and friends) and Lord Voldemort (and fiends). Prepare yourselves … this new trailer is going to jolt you back into the realization that the total end of Harry Potter is nearly upon us.

Ho.Lee.Shizz! I am SO not ready for the Harry Potter franchise to be over. Because The Deathly Hallows was broken up into 2 films, this second (and final) film will be ALL action. Part 1 was a long, fairly slow lead-in to the big showdown that is featured in this Summer’s final film. I fully expect that the action will get underway as soon as the Part 2 begins and won’t stop until … well … the end. I know I won’t even be able to pretend that I won’t cry. If my movie theater seat isn’t soaked with tears, then I’ll be very surprised. The end is coming .. .quickly. Are you ready for it?

gov-andrew-cuomo-pushes-gay-marriage-in-new-york.jpg

We can DO this!

Governor Andrew Cuomo began a campaign this week to legalize gay marriage in New York.

He's planning on using a strategy that will go on a much different path than the similar bill, which failed in the state two years ago.

Attempting to avoid poor legislative and political planning, like the first time around, Cuomo has assembled a group of A-list political strategists and several gay rights groups to back his campaign.

A spokesman for the governor says:

"This is an important issue for the administration, and the governor is committed to working with New Yorkers to get the marriage equality legislation passed."

Cuomo has made this campaign his "mission" and "feels this is part of where New York should be — at the forefront."

Ross Levi of the Empire State Pride Agenda adds:

"We are going to garner all the resources we can. A strong united community working together is going to be a great asset in accomplishing our goal."

We are proud of Andrew Cuomo's efforts to legalize gay marriage in New York. Good luck to you and all your supporters. We're rooting for you.

When last we saw photos of Zachary Jackson Levon — the only-begotten son of Elton John and David Furnish — out and about in public, he was chillin’ with his Papa David on a beach in Hawaii. Today we get to see new photos of little dude out and about here in NYC chillin’ with his nanny in a park. As you can see from the photos below, Zachary was feelin’ real tired on his walk with his nanny … so, soooo tired.

Look at those cheeks!!! So adorable. We have been enjoying a plethora of adorable baby photos here on the blog lately … but with the celebrity baby boom that is going on, I guess it’s to be expected. These photos of Zachary are just so cute … how could I not share them? Don’t you just want to pinch those chubby little cheeks? Arts and Entertainment from EzineArticles.com

No other artists have been so closely identified with each other as Paul Gauguin and Vincent Van Gogh. Their often volatile relationship has been dramatized in both books and Hollywood movies, marked by Vincent's cutting off his ear, an incident that seems to be universally know, whatever your background in art. However, they always remained friends, until Van Gogh's death by suicide, bonded by their love of art and Vincent's memorable sunflowers that haunted Gauguin for the rest of his life.

Robert Pattinson Kristen Stewart Get Smoochy In NYC

Earlier this month there was a report going around that Twilight co-stars and rumored lovebirds Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart decided to end their relationship by going on a “a break”. Last night, R. Pattz and K. Stew looked to be very happily together as they celebrated the NYC premiere of his new film Water [...]

So … after our very LONG travel day Saturday and the lack of sleep we got upon our very late arrival here in NYC, yesterday turned out to be the laziest of days … and I mean la-zy. After work, I read for a bit … and then passed out. David and his sisters got out to enjoy the weather but, yeah, I was asleep for most of my Sunday. I did rally around dinner time so that we could all hang out for a bit on our first day in the city. David’s sister Eden suggested we go out for ice cream … and cupcakes … and doughnuts. Needless to say, that got me up and out of the house.

Eden took us to a place called Holey Cream which specializes in ice cream sandwiches made out of DOUGHNUTS and ice cream. I mean … DELISH. I stuffed my face on far too many sweets to share with all y’all and still keep my dignity … needless to say, doughnuts, cupcakes and ice cream all come together to make wonderful desserts :)

Yeah, that’s pretty much it. I read some more (I’m SO close to finishing the final Hunger Games book) and called it an early night.

Today, David and I are meeting up with some friends for dinner and drinks so … I’m really looking forward to that :) It’s supposed to rain here in in NYC tomorrow but, meh, I don’t mind. We’ve got a couple of Broadway shows on our calendar and I’m seeing PJ Harvey with my dear friend Irene on Wednesday so … it should be a great week :D

The Paul McCartney Discography Recommended Listens

In the beginning, rockabilly was a uniquely American phenomenon. Having grown out of the roots of various American music forms including the blues, country, gospel, and rhythm and blues, it was American music through and through. But it didn't take long before the language of rockabilly transcended borders and spoken-language barriers. It quickly became part of the universal language of rock and roll music.

JLS Facts

The heart is pounding, the hands shake. Many people experience anxiety when they become the centre of attention. Specifically, many musicians are not able to perform their best as a result of an increased anxiety level. While some believe it is important to experience some performance anxiety to play their best, anxiety should not overwhelm the performer. The effects of excessive nerves may appear when a gap exists between what has occurred in practice and the actual performance. When anxiety prevents an individual from performing at their best, not only is the performer affected, but the musical experience of other instrumentalists and/or the listener also may be affected.

Last night David and I hung out with a group of friends last night that included Cara — who we hadn’t hung out with in ages — and Shane & Jordan, who we always make sure to spend time with when we’re in the city. We convened for dinner at The Smith in the East Village and then made our way to Splash Bar for Musical Monday. We had a blast, primarily because we were in such great company.

Cara is my girl who I’ve known for years but we realized that it had been FAR too long since we hung out together here in the city. Last night was our chance to remedy the fact that we hadn’t seen one another in a while and we picked up as if no time had passed. Shane is one of David’s BFFs so we always make sure to spend time with him here in the city … and randomly, we always run into Jordan here in NYC when we happen to be here. I have to tell you, I am a very lucky person. I know the coolest people in the world and I feel so blessed to count them as friends. That Cara and I can pick up after a few years as if no time has passed is just so wonderful. And there are few people in the world that make me as happy as Jordan does. We ate, we drank and were very merry here last night so … it was a very good night.

Tonight, David and I will be seeing Catch Me If You Can on Broadway. Catch Me stars Kerry Butler, who I met when she was starring in Xanadu and LOVED in Rock of Ages. I am very excited to see her in this new show. It’s supposed to be rainy tonight but I don’t think anything can dampen my spirits today. Happy Tuesday, y’all!!

thomas dekker opens up about open sexuality

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles fans of all genders, rejoice! When it comes to relationships, Thomas Dekker is open to anything.

The Terminator: TSCC/Heroes/Nightmare on Elm Street actor opened up about his sexuality during a recent interview and had the following to say about it:

"I've only really had relationships with women, but I'm certainly not closed to it. If there are possibilities of being able to do anything in life, why would you say you would never take any up?"

"In the later chunk of my teen years I was so all over the place with sex. It was terrible. I never really had a real relationship at all. During puberty, it's all about sex, and it's all about figuring yourself out. I think I overdid it when I was younger."

So there you have it, folks! Thomas Dekker is officially an equal opportunity free agent!

Are U excited to hear about Dekker's open sexuality?

Love Triangle Interview With Wendy Williams!

Wendy Williams is one heck of a busy lady and her schedule just got busier with the addition of the new GSN game show Love Triangle. The show premiered last week and is getting great buzz but then again pretty much everything Wendy does generates buzz. I recently had the opportunity to participate in a Q&A interview with the one and only Wendy Williams. She dished about her new show, her busy life and her recent stint on Dancing With The Stars. Williams is a talker that is for sure which made the interview one of the most enjoyable ones I have ever done. Obviously a big part of what Wendy shared had to do with her new show Love Triangle, which she and her husband just so happen to executive produce. The schedule for taping the show fit into her talk show schedule nicely which she admitted is the first question she asked before taking on the project. That plus the fact that she loves game shows made her decision to take the job an easy one. Love Triangle taped 32 episodes in about four weekends leaving her free to film her talk show during the week. What was [...]

Movie Review: Scream 4′

At last … after many years of hoping, praying, talking … then planning and waiting … Scream 4 finally opened in theaters here in the US yesterday. It seems like a lifetime ago that we first heard that the Scream film franchise was being rebooted with a new sequel and an ice age since the [...]

Yesterday was a really fun day for David and me. After an early showing of Scream 4 (review forthcoming), we made our way to the Gibson Amphitheater to see Janet Jackson LIVE in concert on the second night of her LA stop of her Number Ones Greatest Hits Tour. David had seen Janet twice before in concert … last night was my first … and it was AMAZINGLY fun!

Our show was no nonsense, no frills … just HIT song after HIT song for about 2 hours. The show was pretty much one big medley. In order for Janet to perform all of her hit songs — and I mean ALL of them — she had to perform them in medley format. The show started with a medley of upbeat dance songs, then cooled down with a medley of ballads before going back into more killer dance tracks. Even Janet‘s onstage dress was bare bones … jeans, a tank top and combat boots … that’s all. To be honest, I was a bit bummed that the show wasn’t a big production. I’ve seen photos from her Rhythm Nation and Velvet Rope tours and she really knows how to put on a show. This tour, tho, is all about the songs … her massive collection of hits. She did not disappoint. I was in HEAVEN singing and dancing along to all of her songs. I actually remembered and busted out the dance breakdown parts to both Miss You Much and If right there in the aisles. I had no shame, it was a blast! The show was so fun … it was an honor to see Janet live in concert :)

MTV Video Music Awards

Aside from Rosie O'Donnell, who has hosted the show eight times - more than any other Kids Choice Award host in the show's history - celebrity hosts are usually selected from among actors in upcoming movies that target youth audiences, which is turn provides a major venue through which to promote their soon-to-release films. Previous hosts have been chosen from voices of characters in Shrek, Madagascar, and Kung Fu Panda. During the show, winners are revealed using various stunts as a deviation from the traditional sealed envelope of the "grown-up" awards programs - instead exploiting such surprise visual devices...

Passing the Sting Symphonicity Tour Baton to Sarah Hicks

If you're a musician, at some stage you've probably considered the idea of recording yourself, or your band. Digital music recording technology has come a long way in recent years, and the best part is that you no longer need to remortgage your house to be able to build a decent quality home studio set up. The first step is deciding where you're going to work. Are you a garage band with access to a real garage, or are you a solo act who neatly folds onto a single chair in your study? Before you think about shelling out for any equipment, you need to sort out where you're going to be recording music. As the experts say, "location, location, location". It's pretty important. Here are the things you should consider.

The Best Way To Easily Create Killer Hip Hop Beats

The general feeling with electric players is that stainless steel frets can give a completely new dimension to ease of playing; therefore why shouldn't the same be applicable to the acoustic guitar? Stainless steel fret replacement is a reasonably common modification that is made to electric and electro-acoustic guitars, but the practice of refitting an acoustic guitar with stainless steel frets is a pretty rare occurrence, by all accounts.

Among other, um, noticeable changes…

Last night, Joey Lawrence was on hand at the kick off to Little Miracle Missions, an organization funded by Pampers and hosted by Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City. Several other celebrity parents were on hand for the event, like Ali Larter and Mark Consuelos, but it was Joey that caught our eye with his head full of hair.

The bald look is out, huh? Well, we wish you were sporting the flowing locks you had back in your Blossom days, but this looks nice too.

So, um, what else is going on in your face region? Maybe while you were growing your hair out, a doctor was sticking a needle in? Just saying - you're looking a bit more "fresh faced" than the last time we saw you.

Check out more hot shots from the event in the gallery (below).

Tips for a Perfect Voice Over Recording Experience

Computers have changed the way many things are done today and the music industry is no exception. We are now able to simply download songs right from our computers and burn our own CDs instead of having to go to a music store to purchase it. Well, you can now produce instrumentals from your computer too without having to go to a recording studio. This eliminates the high cost of using many different musicians playing different instruments to achieve the sound you are looking for.

What To Look For When Buying Electric Guitars For Sale

Lorrie and Larry Collins were a phenomenon in the 1950s. This brother and sister duo, who called themselves The Collins Kids, were mere children when they started performing country music. Lorrie had an amazing voice as well as beauty and charm, while Larry who was two years younger was already a guitar wizard by the age of 10. When they switched from strictly country to rockabilly in 1954, Larry was just 12 and Lorrie 14. But their tender young ages didn't stop them from making rockabilly history.

The RG-26 is an OM/OO size/style acoustic guitar built with an all solid Sitka spruce top and solid Honduran mahogany back and sides. This small bodied wonder really packs a punch as it excels at both finger style playing and flat picking. Upon first receiving this particular model guitar, I found myself inspired to to play some finger style tunes and cover some new musical ground as well; however this guitar is certainly no slouch at flat picking tunes either!

Check out below a few super cute photos of Nicole and the kiddies on their little park playdate together.

I cannot even deal … these kids are adorable. Harlow looks exactly like a mini Nicole and Sparrow is a mini Joel. They are just so cute. I’m not sure if Nic/Joel are thinking about having more children but I, for one, would LOVE it if they had at least one more baby. If they continue to make kids this cute, then they shouldn’t stop now ;)

Most people who know at least a little bit about rockabilly music from the 1950s realize that small independent record labels--most notably Sun Records, Starday Records, Jaxon Records, and a few others--drove the phenomenon called rockabilly. It was these small labels that were willing to try something new and unproven. They gave unknown musician after unknown musician their chance at becoming a rock and roll star. But although the big labels weren't about to be the first to take a chance on these unknown rockabilly cats, it didn't take them long to jump on the bandwagon once those rockabilly records started selling in real quantities!

How to Play The Violin: Learn Step by Step

While that is still the preferred method for most music lovers who like to purchase music CD's and yet play their music on the go in a portable format, there had also been a rise of Internet downloads of music in digitized form in the decade before this, Napster being the most famous and previously notorious example.

Breaking Dawn Hacker Identified, Facing Legal Action

After some images from the upcoming Twilight Saga’s “Breaking Dawn” were stolen earlier this year by a hacker, Summit Entertainment has just released the following statement.

“In an action that further communicates that those who steal images, video and other intellectual property will be identified and prosecuted globally, Summit Entertainment communicated today that it has identified the principal hacker who earlier this year stole unreleased materials from THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN which were then distributed on the internet.”

“Civil actions in the United States and Argentina name Daiana Santia, along with others, as being involved in stealing photographs, unfinished images and video from both parts of the yet to be released THE TWILIGHT SAGA: BREAKING DAWN which first appeared on the internet of March 31 of this year. Criminal action in Argentina has also been filed.”

The statement continues, “The investigation, which utilized the services of Kroll Inc. and the law firm of Keats McFarland & Wilson LLP, spanned four continents (North America, South America, Europe and Australia) and has led to the town of Posadas in northern Argentina. It is believed that others may also be involved in the crime and thus the investigation is on-going.”

“While we very much appreciate the legions of committed fans of the franchise and encourage them to create community online, we cannot ignore that property was stolen,” said David C. Friedman, Executive Vice President and General Counsel, Summit Entertainment. “It is not fair to the majority of fans that want to see the final chapter of the TWILIGHT SAGA film franchise fully realized by the filmmaker and dedicated cast and crew to have these images out and available on the Internet.”

sesame-street-comes-to-pakistan.jpg

Sesame Street continues to be a universal learning tool for children as it will now be broadcast in Pakistan to help boost education.

The U.S. is donating $20 million to fund a local version of the show, which will have the traditional New York City setting swapped for a Pakistani village.

Don't expect to see Big Bird or Cookie Monster though, as the show will feature new characters including Rani, a six-year-old female puppet with pigtails and a blue-and-white school uniform and will speak in Urdu.

Writer for the Pakistani version, Imraan Peerzada says:

"She will represent what little girls have to go through in this gender-biased society.

We are not avoiding religion‚ but we don't want to label children…the basic learning tools of literacy‚ numeracy‚ hygiene‚ and healthy eating have to be in place first."

Good work, Sesame Street. What a fantastic idea.

Victoria Beckham Loses Her Cool While Parenting Her Kiddies

Victoria Beckham is ALWAYS the perfect picture of restraint and control but over the weekend at an LA Galaxy soccer match at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA, her poshness lost her cool for a split second when her children — Brooklyn Joseph, Romeo James, Cruz David and BFF Ken Paves — forced her [...]

After our fun-filled day by the beach, Darion, his mom, David and I made our way to the AMC Theater at Century City to see Source Code. Now, I’ve had mixed feelings about the film from the very first time I saw the trailer a few months ago. On the one hand, the trailer didn’t make the film look all that good … on other hand, well, Jake Gyllenhaal is in it so …. you can see how I was torn. When I learned that Duncan Jones (David Bowie‘s son) directed it, I was sold. Overall, I liked Source Code very much … tho, for me, the ending left much to be desired.

I’ve heard some people say that Source Code reminds them of Inception and while I can see how some people can make that connection, I totally do not think the movies are all that similar. The storylines are totally different and there really isn’t all that much overlap thematically. In Source Code, we are are taken on a journey that tries to make us understand the concept of alternate realities and for the most part, I was on board with what the movie was trying to say … but the ending, I’m sorry, no I just didn’t buy it. I’ve watched my fair share of sci-fi programming that has given me a “working knowledge” of time travel, alternate realities, other dimensions etc. (and by “working knowledge” I mean, I’ve come to believe in a set of fictional rules that seem feasible to me if time travel, alternate realities, etc. actually existed). The ending of Source Code just did not work for me in the framework of my “working knowledge” of sci-fi temporal travel so … yeah, no, I didn’t like the ending. The rest of the movie, tho, I thought was inventive and entertaining. As much as I love Jakey poo, I felt he overacted a bit in some scenes but not enough to turn me off entirely. The support cast was fine but they were like background wallpaper … none of them really added anything to the story that stood out for me. I wish Source Code wasn’t a PG-13 film because the action felt a bit watered down. But, again, the inventiveness of the story, the twists and turns and overall plotline really entertained me. I don’t expect this film will do gangbusters at the box office but it’s worth seeing. If you miss it in theaters, you’ll be just fine seeing it on DVD or on cable.

Did any of y’all see Source Code this weekend? What did you think?
